The Urban Dictionary defines "fandom" as: "The community that surrounds a tv show/movie/book etc. Fanfiction writers, artists, poets, and cosplayers are all members of that fandom. Fandoms often consist of message boards, livejournal communities, and people."
As I see it, there are three main groups of fandomers: casual participants, analysts, and content creators. The lines between these three aren't too hard to cross, and I'm not saying any one of these three is better than another. But I will say this; I really appreciate a good fan work. Be it a fanfiction, animation, webcomic, song or what have you, if it clearly took some effort and becomes a big deal, 9 times out of 10 I will enjoy it. Unfortunately, the Fossil Fighters Fandom doesn't have much of that stuff to revel in. Discounting the Storm's Brewing Fanverse (which I am too involved to give a fair review over), I'd say we have two such pieces. We have ShayminMarx's Fossil Fighters: The Champions, and we have Tacodude007's Let's Plays of FF and FFC.
As nice as those two pieces are, I'd like to see more. There all sorts of unexplored niches and characters and concepts... so I decided to make a list of said things I believe should be at least tried out.
- Nevada Montecarlo... anything. Really. I'd love to see an Indiana Jones pastiche fanfic starring her, if not a full-on, heart-pounding crossover with Indy. There is just soooo much potential here. Yet all we have at the moment is this sketch . :/
- Rule 63 stuff, but not the messed-up kind. Consider Paul, the kindly but socially anxious native islander who dons the mask of an ancient warrior and gains fearlessness- but at a terrible price. Sophie, born an heiress to one of the greatest international corporations of modern times; whose external pressure to succeed (primarily from her hard-nosed mother) leads her into vigilante-like confrontations with skull-suited miscreants. See what I mean?
- MUSIC. MUSIC PLZ. Remixes, original tracks, song parodies- take your pick! You don't have much competition.
- Animation. Preferably something that doesn't demean Cheirus... >.> "French Fancy" indeed.
- Crossovers. These are the kinds of thing that introduce people to new franchises. What do we have? Not that much. The MLP one is something I could've typed up with in twenty minutes or less, and the RWBY and Legend of Zelda ones you have to read to believe. The best one is probably the Power Rangers one. Just find an idea and run with it.
So yeah. Keep in mind that I'm not trying to guilt-trip anyone into making more fanwork. I'm just trying to drum up a little support for a few good ideas I've had. The fact that y'all are here and active is good enough for me.
